About Kintaro

We believe in better.

Did you know that only 26 percent of U.S. public high school graduates have the skills needed to succeed in college? That’s what the results of ACT college entrance exams in the United States revealed for 2013. And, unfortunately, similar results have continued in our country since 2009.

Kintaro Inc is a non-profit organization based in Kingsport, Tenn., that seeks to change this trend in our region by establishing public/private partnerships for enhancing and bringing support to local public education.

Our goal is to improve the classroom performance and graduation rates of students by placing high-technology computer learning tools in nonprofit locations – such as in underserved schools and in facilities for youth, such as Boys & Girls Club and Girls, Inc.

Because reading is so important to academic success, we apply the Reading Plus® system in our programs. Developed in partnership with leading reading researchers, this system has been highly successful in increasing scores on standardized tests and in producing gains in fluency and silent reading, comprehension, vocabulary and overall reading proficiency for students in grade 3 through college. The programs are currently being used in thousands of public and private schools across the country.

Please explore our website to learn more about what we do, about some of our successes, and how you can partner with us to help hundreds of learners in our region reach their full potential.
